The Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) announced it will carry out scheduled preventive maintenance, facility optimization, and operational improvement work across all island regions this week, part of its plan to modernize drinking water infrastructure, according to executive president Luis R. González Delgado.
He said the initiatives aim to address historic infrastructure lags and boost reliability of water production and distribution systems. In Villalba, AAA crews will install about 630 feet of two-inch pipe at the intersection of PR-513 and PR-5513, in the Lado Bravo sector of Jagüeyes barrio, on Monday July 13 and Tuesday July 14, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., without service interruptions.
On Tuesday, July 14, work will occur at the Finca Rosso 1 Pump Station in Bayamón as part of a reconstruction and permanent improvement project, involving closing suction and discharge lines to install new discharge piping; this roughly eight-hour task could cause temporary low pressure in parts of Bayamón and Guaynabo served by the station. Early Wednesday, July 15, technical staff will clean and remove accumulated sediment from clarifiers at the Antonio Santiago Vázquez Plant, known as the Superacueducto, as part of preventive maintenance to optimize treatment processes and ensure operational reliability.
