San Germán Addresses Problem of Cracks in Park Floors

Updated Jul 14, 2026 · via Primera Hora

The Municipality of San Germán has addressed the issue of cracks in the floors of several parks, including a baseball park in the Minillas neighborhood. According to Rosienid Lugo Vargas, Director of Recreation and Sports, the cracks are due to the drought affecting the area, not other causes.

Lugo Vargas stated that the lack of rain has caused similar ruptures throughout the zone and that the parks are being reconditioned to be used again within a week or two. The Municipality will release official information on the situation to reassure the population.

Experts recommend that if people observe cracks in the ground that cause concern, they should contact the authorities to assess the situation and take necessary measures. The drought has affected not only the parks but also the surrounding areas and agricultural lands, with the Municipality hoping for rain to alleviate the situation.
