Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González posted a social media video discussing rising water levels at the Carraízo reservoir following recent rains, referencing cloud-seeding efforts and urging citizens to remain prudent with water use. According to the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority’s (AAA) daily report, 15 of 19 reservoirs showed increases, including Carraízo, which rose by 0.58 centimeters and reached a safe water level.
González said skeptics had doubted the cloud-seeding injections, though she credited rain ultimately to God, while calling the reservoir news positive. She warned that the water rationing currently paused should remain indefinitely on hold if residents use water carefully, citing forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center that the El Niño-driven drought could continue affecting Puerto Rico through September, October, and November.
