The Puerto Rico Highway and Transportation Authority (ACT) announced short-term monitoring work on the Luis A. Ferré Expressway (PR-52), between kilometers 98.5 and 99.2, in the municipality of Ponce, as part of its Bridge Rehabilitation Program. The project represents a $24,427,004 investment, funded 80% by federal funds and 20% by state funds, aimed at extending the useful life of the infrastructure.
Work will take place from Tuesday, July 21 at 9:00 a.m. until Friday, July 24, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., and will require temporary lane closures on PR-52 in both directions. Drivers traveling on PR-52 and at its intersection with PR-10 are urged to slow down and drive carefully to adjust to available lanes according to posted signage. The work is part of the rehabilitation of bridge decks numbered 1067, 1068, 1069, and 1070 on the highway in Ponce.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of drivers who travel daily on PR-52 between the municipalities of Juana Díaz and Ponce, improving safety and mobility conditions along the corridor. Officials said the initiative will also generate approximately 50 direct jobs, contributing to regional economic development.
