Puerto Rico's Department of Treasury (Hacienda) announced that the Senior Return (Planilla Senior) is now available through the SURI online system, allowing residents aged 65 and older, as well as low-income pensioners, to apply for compensatory tax credits. From July 2 through October 14, Form 481.1 will be available for electronically claiming a $400 senior credit and a $300 credit for low-income pensioners.

Applicants can file through their SURI accounts or use Treasury-certified Form Specialists, accessible via the 'Especialistas' section on Hacienda's website (suri.hacienda.pr.gov), by selecting 'Lista de Especialistas en Planillas.' Those without an account must create one. Per Internal Revenue Circular Letter No. 20-32, filing Form 481.1 is mandatory and must be done exclusively through SURI.

Taxpayers needing extra help can also attend free service fairs being coordinated with municipalities; 20 such fairs are scheduled in July, running from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in various municipalities. For more information, residents can send a message through their SURI account or call 787-622-0123.
