A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in Fajardo Wednesday night, in an incident under investigation by Puerto Rico police. The shooting was reported around 8:25 p.m. on Avenida Conquistador, in the Veve Calzada sector, in front of a commercial establishment. Police said a radio call alerted authorities to a person shot; officers arriving on scene found the rider of a gray 2025 Veloce Tank-model motorcycle wounded by gunfire.
He was identified as Luis Josué Rivera Rivera, a Fajardo resident. Paramedics transported Rivera Rivera to a hospital, where he died while receiving medical care. Agents from the Homicide Division of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (CIC) in Fajardo, along with prosecutor Sandra Cortés, took charge of the investigation.
Police noted Rivera Rivera had a prior criminal record involving the Weapons Law and Law 54, Puerto Rico's domestic violence law. As of Wednesday, police had reported 257 homicides so far this year, 12 more than the 245 recorded by the same date in 2025.
