Governor Jenniffer González Colón signed into law Act 133-2026, which amends Puerto Rico's Vehicle and Traffic Law to raise the administrative fine for drivers who fail to yield to emergency vehicles—such as ambulances, police patrol cars, and fire trucks—operating with activated emergency signals, from $100 to $500. She also signed Act 134-2026, designating October 14 as "Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Awareness Day" in Puerto Rico, aimed at raising awareness, reducing stigma, and improving access to information, support, and treatment for those affected; agencies including the Department of Health, the Mental Health and Anti-Addiction Services Administration, the Department of Education, and municipalities will hold educational campaigns. Additionally, the governor signed Act 137-2026, amending the Puerto Rico Municipal Code to strengthen municipal hiring processes by restoring a requirement aimed at preventing applicants from submitting false information in job applications for public service positions.
