The 2026 Arecibo national weightlifting tournament was held in Utuado, with over 100 participants. The competition took place at the Judith A. Vivas school.
In the open category, female winners included Victoria Sanabria (48 kg), Bárbara Ríos (53 kg), Elaine Loyola (58 kg), Daisy Nieves (63 kg), Valerie Molina (69 kg), Verónica Medina (77 kg), and Krystal Marrero (86 kg). Male winners included Steve Rivera (60 kg), Alexis Vélez (65 kg), Francisco Cruz (79 kg), Luis Landro (88 kg), and Christian Cruz (110 kg). The president of the Puerto Rico Weightlifting Federation, Andrés Vargas, expressed satisfaction with the results.
The tournament also featured competitions in the Sub-17 and Sub-23 categories, with winners including Johangelly Marrero, Jamaliz Fabian, Alec Justiano, Yandrés Alamo, Naylangeliz Ruiz, and Jenessys Medina. The Federation announced that selection work for the national team will continue.
