Puerto Rican actor Herbert Cruz returns to the stage in the comedy 'Perros', written and directed by Freddy Benítez. The play will premiere on July 31 and August 1 at 8:00 p.m. and August 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the Teatro Balboa in Mayagüez. Cruz plays the role of a bartender who observes and knows the secrets of his clients, including a doctor, a lawyer, a pastor, and others who hide infidelities and conflicts behind a facade of success.

The play promises to entertain and make the audience reflect on their decisions and the consequences of living behind an appearance. Cruz accepted the project because theater has the power to entertain and make the audience identify with the stories on stage. The production is the result of several months of artistic work with the Programa de Teatro Comunitario del Municipio de Añasco, and director Benítez considers it a bigger challenge with greater scenic and acting complexity.

The cast includes Cruz, Benítez, and other experienced actors, as well as participants from the community program.
