The US Department of State has published a 100-page report on the Cuban government's influence and threat to US interests, mentioning historical ties between Cuban revolutionaries and Puerto Rican independence groups. The report, released by the Trump administration, alleges that the Cuban government has infiltrated the US government, recruited and trained American activists, and supported left-wing terrorism on US soil.
It also references the case of Puerto Rican independence leader Filiberto Ojeda Ríos and the espionage case of Ana Belén Montes, who spied for Cuba. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the Cuban regime has been the main sponsor of left-wing radicalism in the US for over six decades.
The report's release comes as the US government has intensified measures to restrict Cuba's access to foreign oil, exacerbating the country's economic crisis.
