Pedestrian Death in Río Piedras Investigated as Hit-and-Run

A pedestrian died on Wednesday night in Río Piedras after being hit by a driver who did not stop at the scene, according to the Police. The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. in front of a money transfer business on Barbosa Avenue. A man, who has not been identified, was hit by a vehicle while on the road.

The driver involved left the scene without stopping to provide help or information, and the case is being investigated as a hit-and-run. Paramedics arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the victim and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Agent Orlando Rosado, along with prosecutor Melissa Jiménez, is in charge of the investigation.

As of Wednesday, the Police had reported 137 traffic-related deaths, 13 fewer than the 150 registered on the same date in 2025.
