The Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (Sagrado) was awarded the Carnegie Elective Classification for Sustainability, making it the only Puerto Rico institution in the inaugural group of 14 selected universities and one of the first higher education institutions worldwide to receive the new distinction. The classification recognizes institutions that demonstrate sustainability integrated across academic curriculum, research, institutional operations, professional preparation, and community engagement.
For Sagrado, the recognition validates an educational model that incorporates sustainability as a tool to train professionals capable of addressing Puerto Rico's social, economic, and environmental challenges. Gilberto J.
