The Municipality of San Juan's Department of Social and Community Development has launched an interactive exhibition titled 'Sin techo, con historia: un camino entre la vida y el arte' (Without a Roof, with a Story: A Path between Life and Art) to educate about homelessness in the city. The exhibition features works, music, testimonies, and experiences created by people who have lived on the streets and are now in recovery.
Héctor Hernández, a former homeless person, is part of the initiative and shares his story of living on the streets from the age of 12 after his mother disappeared. With the help of municipal programs, he found housing and is now a volunteer at the Centro de Acogida and Nueva Casa de San Juan, where he assists with maintenance tasks and supports others in similar situations.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness about homelessness and its impact on the city. Director Francine Sánchez Marcano explains the initiative's purpose, highlighting the importance of educating the public about this issue.
