Three months after his departure as manager of the Boston Red Sox, Alex Cora feels relieved, despite the initial difficulty of the situation. Cora was let go on April 25 after a slow start to the season, which left the team with a 10-17 record. His tenure in Boston spanned seven seasons, including a World Series championship in 2018.
Cora, 50, expressed his feelings in an interview with GFR Media, stating that he feels more relieved and that the pressure of leading a historic organization like the Red Sox took a mental and physical toll. Under his direction, the Red Sox achieved 620 wins and 541 losses. Cora did not elaborate on the team's internal issues but noted that he does not think the decision to let him go was hasty.
The Red Sox have since recovered, occupying the third position in the American League East division with a 54-50 record under interim manager Chad Tracy.
