Published Aug 6, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

The FBI arrested Angel Joel Fagot Torres in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on charges related to narcotics trafficking and conspiracy. Torres, who has a history of gun-related convictions, was found with a firearm during a police intervention. According to the federal complaint, police observed suspicious activity near a Mitsubishi Lancer in a commercial parking lot and found a pistol in Torres' waistband.

Torres admitted to not having a license for the gun. A review of records revealed that Torres had previous convictions for gun-related violations in Puerto Rico and an active arrest warrant from Pennsylvania for failing to appear in court on narcotics and conspiracy charges. The FBI charged Torres with violating Title 18 of the US Code, section 922(g)(1), which prohibits firearm possession by individuals with certain prior convictions.

The case was investigated jointly by the Ponce Police Strike Force and the FBI's Ponce resident agency. The federal complaint was authorized by Judge Giselle López Soler on August 5, 2026.
