Despite Puerto Rico experiencing drought conditions since May, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) has not activated the Scientific Committee, which is responsible for providing specialized knowledge to inform policy decisions to mitigate the impact of the prevailing weather conditions. The committee is part of the existing protocol for managing drought, but it has not been called upon to contribute to the group of agency heads that define and implement policies to address the drought.
