On the solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Geraldo Ramírez Torres was ordained as the new bishop of Ponce at the Sports and Cultural Complex of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. The celebration was presided over by Archbishop Piergiorgio Bertoldi, titular archbishop of Spello, Apostolic Nuncio to the Dominican Republic, and Apostolic Delegate to Puerto Rico.
During the ordination rite, Ramírez Torres received the imposition of hands and the prayer of ordination, followed by the signs of his new episcopal ministry, including the anointing with holy chrism and the delivery of the book of the Gospels, the ring, the mitre, and the pastoral staff. In his first words after receiving the episcopal ministry, Ramírez Torres expressed his gratitude, humility, and confidence in God, and stated his desire to serve and walk alongside the People of God.
