The 8th edition of the '5K La Longa' in Orocovis was dedicated to long-distance runner Héctor Pagán, recognizing his outstanding athletic career, including his recent bronze medal at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. The event also honored Professor Ramón Iván Nieves Montesino, an athletics coach and founder of Próceres Runners Team. Alexander Torres won the men's category with a time of 15:50, followed by Juan Villafaña, Kevin Burgos, and Carlos Adorno.
Keysha Dumeng won the women's category with a time of 19:17, followed by Carol Burgos, Jennifer Rodríguez, and Yaidy Santana. The event, which attracted 580 participants from 52 municipalities, promoted not only sports but also the local culture and gastronomy, according to Mayor Jesús E. Colón Berlingeri.
The race started and finished at the Coliseo Jesús M. Colón Collazo and covered scenic routes in the Gato and Barros neighborhoods, as part of the town's bicentennial celebration. Over 3,000 people attended the event, which featured local cuisine, including coffee, chicken broth, and other traditional dishes.
