Published Aug 23, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

John Holland, a 37-year-old forward, has been a key player for the Santeros de Aguada in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league. Despite receiving offers from other teams, the Santeros have chosen to keep Holland, who represents experience, production, and the team's competitive identity. According to Wilson López, the team's representative, Holland was signed in 2025 with the intention of being a crucial player in the playoffs.

Holland has been with the Santeros since 2019, after the team acquired his rights from the Indios de Mayagüez. He has previously played for other teams, including the Grises de Humacao, Manatí, and Santurce. Holland's first season with the Santeros ended with a championship, creating a strong bond with the team and the western region of Puerto Rico.

He has also played for the Puerto Rican national team, participating in the 2023 World Cup. The Santeros will face the Vaqueros in a decisive seventh game on Sunday in Bayamón, with Holland's performance being crucial to the team's chances of winning the championship.
