A 28-year-old man, Melvin Joel Algarín Nieves, was shot and killed in the early hours of Saturday in Río Piedras. According to preliminary police information, a 911 call reported a person shot, and upon arrival, officers found the victim, who was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Algarín Nieves, a resident of Cataño, was 5'5" and weighed approximately 160 pounds, with several tattoos, including a spider on his left shoulder and a rose with the name 'María' on his left side. The San Juan Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC), along with prosecutor Bárbara Pérez, are investigating the incident.
