Busy Pre-Dawn Hours for Police in Fajardo: Shooting, Arrests, Weapons Seized

Puerto Rico Police reported a series of incidents in Fajardo. Early in the morning, agents from the Division of Intelligence and Arrests executed search and arrest warrants against two 26-year-old men and a 17-year-old adolescent in Parcelas Luis M. Cintrón, barrio Quebrada Vuelta, as part of a homicide investigation.

A rifle, a pistol, magazines, and controlled substances were seized; the firearms will be analyzed by the Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine possible links to murder scenes. Separately, around 5:30 a.m., a man was shot in the neck on Calle 1 in the Valle Puerto Real housing development. He remains unidentified and in guarded condition, and was airlifted to Centro Médico in Río Piedras.

Officers pursued a vehicle matching the suspects' description, ending in two arrests near Residencial Pedro Rosario Nieves; the case was referred to Fajardo's Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC). Police noted 22 homicides so far this year in the Fajardo police area, eight more than the same period in 2025. The most recent homicide occurred Wednesday at 8:13 p.m. in sector Los Muchos, barrio La Barra, Caguas, where Felipe Raúl Hernández Ortiz, 36, was fatally shot; two Glock pistols, magazines, 9mm bullets, and a vehicle were recovered as evidence.
