Puerto Rico Police are investigating a homicide reported early Sunday morning on the Román Baldorioty de Castro Expressway, in the San Juan-to-Carolina direction. According to preliminary information, the crime was reported at approximately 3:03 AM via a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System. When police units arrived at the scene, they found a man dead inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
While police investigate, a section of the expressway in front of Isla Verde was closed to traffic, which was diverted through the marginal street. As of Saturday, police had reported 299 homicides so far this year, three fewer than the 302 recorded by the same date in 2025.
