The Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) announced the resignation of two high-ranking officials: Vice President of Administration Karim del Valle Gregory and Vice President of Planning and Corporate Strategy Moisés Lugo Molina. According to the AAA, their departure is due to personal and professional reasons. The resignations come amidst a crisis that began several months ago, when the San Juan municipality sued the AAA over water supply issues, and has since been complicated by the discovery of multiple failures in the Superacueducto and several pumping stations.
The crisis has reached its peak with the rationing of water in recent months due to drought, and a potential labor conflict with the union representing AAA employees. Multiple mayors and legislators have called for the resignation of AAA Executive President Luis Reinaldo González. González praised the departing officials, thanking them for their time and dedication to the AAA and acknowledging their contributions to the organization and Puerto Rico.
He expressed his respect for their decision to start a new chapter and wished them success in their future endeavors.
