Government Unsure if Wells to Boost San Juan Water Supply Are Safe for Consumption

Facing drought conditions that have pushed the main reservoirs serving Puerto Rico’s metropolitan area into "observation" and "operational adjustment" status, the government is considering rehabilitating wells in the northern region of Puerto Rico as an alternative to increase water flow to the San Juan area. However, the water quality of these wells remains unknown, raising questions about whether they are safe for human consumption.
