On Friday, the Caguas Court filed charges of sexual assault and lewd acts against a Juncos resident, Jorge A. Cay Martínez, 36.
According to the complaint filed against him, he allegedly committed the acts against a girl, now 13 years old, between 2015 and 2024. Judge Yarissa Santiago of the Caguas Court found probable cause for arrest and set bail at $200,000, which Cay Martínez did not post.
He was subsequently admitted to the Bayamón Correctional Complex. Agent Brenda López, assigned to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Division of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau's Criminal Investigations Corps in Caguas, investigated the case and consulted with prosecutor Inés Escobales Sánchez, who ordered the filing of the criminal charges.
