Motorcycle-riding gunmen fatally shoot man at Caguas grocery store

A man died after being shot last night at a colmado (small grocery store) on Chile Street in the Bunker neighborhood of Caguas, Puerto Rico Police reported. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Ángel E. Rodríguez Ruiz, a Caguas resident, was on the store's balcony when several individuals riding motorcycles arrived and opened fire on him.

A 9-1-1 call first alerted authorities to gunfire at the colmado, followed by a second call reporting a gunshot victim arriving at a nearby hospital. Rodríguez Ruiz suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital, where the attending physician certified he had no vital signs. A woman was also wounded in the leg during the shooting; she received medical treatment and was reported in stable condition.

The case was initially investigated by Agent Francisco Ortiz of the Caguas District and later referred to the Homicide Division of the Police's Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Caguas. Investigators are working the case alongside prosecutor Darío Vissepó and staff from the Institute of Forensic Sciences.
