The Museo de Arte de Ponce (MAP) will celebrate its 42nd Annual Gala on December 11 at the Condado Vanderbilt hotel, with the theme 'The Power of Art'. The event, inspired by a work by Puerto Rican artist Carlos Betancourt, represents the museum's current state of transformation and reinvention.
As the museum advances in its reconstruction process, the gala will help ensure its continued mission to serve the community with art and purpose. María Luis Ferré Rangel, president of the MAP Board of Directors, stated that every contribution to the gala brings the museum closer to its future and helps guarantee its mission for future generations.
The museum's director, Marcos Montero, described the current state of the museum as one of creativity and transformation, with the team working on the new layout, collection presentation, and programming to adapt to social, community, and technological changes. The museum is expected to reopen in 2028 with a new vision, while maintaining its values and commitment to the community.
