Police in Puerto Rico are investigating three separate homicides that occurred within about five hours from Saturday night into Sunday morning in Toa Baja and Mayagüez. The first killing was reported at kilometer 2.2 of PR-867 in Sabana Seca, Toa Baja, after a 911 call about a gunshot victim; officers found the body of Luis Miguel Nieves Cruz, 32, with bullet wounds, and recovered a white 2026 XR650 motorcycle at the scene.
In an unrelated case around 9:08 p.m., police responded to a shooting near building 15 of the Jardines de Concordia public housing project in Mayagüez, where they found the body of Anyer Jeremy Manuel Agosto Ortiz, 23; a 70-year-old man was also shot and taken to a hospital, and a horse was killed. Later, around 1:20 a.m.
Sunday, another shooting was reported near a court at the Roosevelt housing project in Mayagüez, where officers found an unidentified man dead from multiple gunshot wounds. As of Saturday, police had reported 308 homicides so far this year, the same number recorded by the same date in 2025.
