75-year-old man dies after being swept away by currents in Arecibo beach

A 75-year-old man, Ángel Rosado, died on Monday after being swept away by marine currents at a beach in Arecibo, behind a business on PR-181 in the Islote sector. Juan Morales Colón, director of the Arecibo Municipal Office for Emergency Management (OMME), confirmed the information to El Nuevo Día. Rosado's cousin, Víctor Rosado, 70, was also pulled into the water but managed to escape alive.

Authorities were alerted to the situation at around 2:55 p.m. through a 9-1-1 emergency call. According to Morales, Ángel Rosado was pulled from the water by his cousin and received resuscitation attempts, but did not respond. The circumstances that led to both men being swept away by the current are currently unknown.
