Carraízo and La Plata Reservoirs Receive Insufficient Rainfall

Published Sep 7, 2026 · via WAPA TV

Despite significant rainfall in areas such as Vega Baja, San Sebastián, Arecibo, Cayey, and Río Grande, the Carraízo and La Plata reservoirs did not receive sufficient water today. The intense heat, humidity caused by the passage of a tropical wave over the Dominican Republic, and southeast winds have caused rain and flooding in certain sectors.

However, another tropical wave is expected to pass on Wednesday. The Carraízo reservoir is currently at 38.82 meters.

The rainfall has brought relief to some areas, but the water levels in the reservoirs remain a concern.
