Driver Rescued Alive After Falling Down Cliff on Luis A. Ferré Highway

A 24-year-old driver, Jaime Irizarry Pérez, was rescued alive by the Cuerpo de Bomberos after losing control of his vehicle and falling approximately 80 feet down a cliff on the Luis A. Ferré highway, near the exit to Montehiedra. The accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. while driving from Caguas to San Juan.

According to Captain Clarissa Ortiz, director of the San Juan Highway Patrol Division, Irizarry Pérez claimed he fell asleep at the wheel, collided with a concrete wall, and fell down the cliff. The vehicle landed in an area of rocks and water. Irizarry Pérez was taken to a hospital for evaluation and is currently in stable condition.

The exit remains closed until the vehicle can be extracted from the ravine. Agent José Pedragó is in charge of the investigation.
