Omallys 'Omi' Hopper, a content creator from Loíza, has published her first cookbook, 'Cooking con Omi', which features 100 of her favorite Puerto Rican recipes. Hopper, who moved to Providence, Rhode Island with her family at age 11, wanted to share her love for Puerto Rican cuisine and traditions through the book.
She describes it as a 'love letter' to her heritage and hopes it will motivate readers to try new dishes. The book project was inspired by a social media follower, Johanna Castillo, who learned to make arroz con gandules from Hopper's content.
Hopper's book is available digitally and in print through Amazon and various bookstores in Puerto Rico. She has gained a following on social media and has appeared on a reality TV show, 'Next Level Chef', in 2023.
