Toy Doggie Creates Free Hurricane Guide for Pets

Published Sep 10, 2026 · via Primera Hora

Toy Doggie, founded by Viviana Rivera, has launched a free guide in Spanish called 'Ya está decidido: Plan de huracanes para tu mascota' to help pet owners in Puerto Rico prepare for hurricane season. The guide allows families to establish plans for their pets, including who will be responsible for transporting them and who will collect their emergency kit.

It also includes recommendations for what to include in the emergency kit and what to check beforehand, such as the pet's collar, leash, and identification. The guide is designed to be downloaded, printed, and completed by hand, and Toy Doggie recommends posting it in a visible and accessible place in the home, such as the refrigerator.

Rivera, a certified expert in pet products, emphasized the importance of including pets in family emergency plans, stating that their safety should not be decided at the last minute. The guide provides a timeline of actions to take 72 hours, 24 hours, and during a power outage, and includes space to record contact information for the veterinarian, municipality, and a person outside of Puerto Rico.
