An elderly woman and her 11-year-old grandson were attacked by a man wielding a machete in the Vivía Arriba neighborhood of Utuado, Puerto Rico, according to the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) of Utuado. Authorities were alerted to the attack at 11:07 a.m. on Friday at kilometer 3.5 of highway PR-111.
Police arrived while the assault was still underway and shot the attacker, who was wounded by gunfire. As of the report, the attacker's relationship to the woman and child was unknown, and the health condition of all three individuals — the woman, the child, and the attacker — had not been disclosed.
