Rafael 'Raphy' Pina Nieves, a music producer, must complete the remaining year of supervised release. Judge Francisco Besosa of the US District Court in Old San Juan denied Pina's petition for reconsideration, citing his 2015 federal conviction and subsequent gun possession charges. Pina was convicted of bank fraud in 2015 and received a probationary sentence and fine, which prohibited him from possessing firearms.
However, he was later found guilty of possessing a gun in 2020 and served 2 years and 2 months in prison. After his release, he began serving a 3-year supervised release term, which he must now complete. Pina can still appeal the decision to the First Circuit in Boston.
He is set to finish his supervised release on July 18, 2027.
