According to Iván Vega Colón, director of the Oficina de Arte, Cultura y Turismo, Guaynabo is more than just an urban center, it's a tourist destination that combines history, nature, culture, and gastronomy. The area is home to the Caparra Ruins, the site of the first Spanish settlement in Puerto Rico, established by Juan Ponce de León in 1508.
Visitors can explore the Museo y Parque Histórico Ruinas de Caparra, which features artifacts from the time, including arms, clothing, and documents. The historic center also boasts the San Pedro Mártir de Verona church, a 260-year-old architectural gem. The Parque Forestal La Marquesa, located in the southern part of the municipality, offers a natural escape with over 320 species of birds, a butterfly garden, and scenic trails.
