A 43-year-old man, Javier Rivera Serrano, was arrested after a police chase ended in an accident in Caimito. Rivera Serrano was wanted for allegedly violating Article 199.D of the Penal Code, related to the crime of damages, and had a $30,000 bail order issued by a Bayamón Court judge. On Thursday afternoon, police officers from the San Juan and Bayamón Intelligence and Arrests divisions located Rivera Serrano's vehicle in the Vista Hermosa residential area in Puerto Nuevo.

As officers prepared to intervene, Rivera Serrano allegedly got into a Ford Expedition registered in his name and drove away, prompting a police chase involving several units. The chase ended on PR-1, kilometer 19.0, in Caimito, when Rivera Serrano lost control of the vehicle and collided with another car. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Rivera Serrano was arrested, taken to a hospital for lacerations, and later brought to the Bayamón Court for the arrest warrant to be served. After failing to post bail, he was admitted to the Bayamón Regional Jail.
