Published Sep 18, 2026 · via Primera Hora

The Division of Stolen Vehicles in Utuado inspected and fined several clandestine mechanic shops and junk vehicle accumulation sites in Utuado and Adjuntas as part of efforts to prevent vehicle theft and the illegal market for vehicle parts. Agents inspected motor vehicles and verified records, municipal patents, automotive mechanic licenses, and operating permits in various sectors.

As a result, 12 complaints were issued, including four for infractions of Article 4.08 of the Vehicle and Transit Law, which requires workshop owners to keep an official record of received vehicles. Three fines were for non-compliance with the Municipal Code and five for other reasons.

Lieutenant Carlos Román Vega, director of the Division of Stolen Vehicles, urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and report suspicious activities or illegal shops by calling (787) 343-2000 or the Utuado Command directly.
