Carlos Arroyo, a former basketball player, will be inducted into the Florida International University (FIU) Athletic Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by FIU on Thursday through a social media post, showing Arroyo's reaction to the news during a video call. Arroyo, 47, played for FIU's basketball program from 1997 to 2001, averaging 16 points, 4.6 assists, and three rebounds in 100 games.
He is FIU's all-time leader in assists with 459 and second in points with 1,601. Arroyo also holds records for most points scored in a game, most assists in a game, and most units in a single season. His number 30 jersey was retired by FIU in 2007.
Arroyo had a nine-year NBA career and was a key figure in Puerto Rico's National Team in the early 2000s. He is currently the general manager of the National Team and co-owner of the Vaqueros de Bayamón in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). The FIU Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be inducted on November 6 and 7.
