Arroyo is a small municipality on the southern coast of Puerto Rico, bordered by the Caribbean Sea, about 35 miles from San Juan in the South region. It sits east of Guayama and northwest of Patillas, and is organized into five barrios plus the Arroyo barrio-pueblo, covering just over 3 square kilometers, one of the more compact municipalities on the island.

Founded in 1855, Arroyo is part of the Guayama Metropolitan Statistical Area, tying its economy and services to the larger neighboring city of Guayama. As of 2020 it had a population of approximately 15,843 residents.
