Larry Ayuso may be announced as the new director of the Capitanes de Arecibo basketball team in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) on Thursday, according to El Nuevo Día. The team's management has been in advanced negotiations with the former player, who previously played for the Capitanes for five seasons and won three championships.
Ayuso would replace Juan Cardona, who left the team to manage the Gigantes de Carolina-Canóvanas. Ayuso has also worked as a director for the Cangrejeros de Santurce and Piratas de Quebradillas, and was named Director of the Year in 2022.
Other candidates considered for the position include Rafael Muñiz, Ricky Meléndez, David Rosario, and Nelson Colón. In a separate matter, the team's representative, José Manuel Baeza Visalden, was found to have cause for arrest due to domestic violence charges, according to a police investigation.
