The Municipality of Carolina invested $16,620 in equipment for its K-9 Unit, aiming to strengthen interventions to detect illegal drugs and weapons in the city. The acquisition includes high-resistance leashes, collars, tactical harnesses, and reinforced muzzles, among other items. The unit has five trained dogs - Blacky, Senna, Benti, Roczo, and Thor - each with specific functions.
Senna and Benti are trained to detect controlled substances and work at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, while Blacky specializes in detecting firearms and works with Roczo in preventive operations in Carolina communities. Thor participates in joint efforts with the FBI. Additionally, Aerostar Puerto Rico invested $125,726 in two Dodge Durango patrol vehicles equipped to transport the K-9 units, which were delivered to the Carolina Municipal Police for airport security duties.
