A magnitude 5.2 earthquake was reported in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic on Sunday afternoon, according to the Puerto Rico Seismic Network. The epicenter was 95 kilometers deep and 213.85 kilometers west-northwest of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Citizens from various parts of Puerto Rico reported feeling the earthquake on social media.
There is no tsunami warning, watch, or advisory for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake's epicenter was 8 kilometers southeast of Ramón Santana, in the San Pedro de Macorís province. Earlier in the morning, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake was also felt in the area.
