Roberto Lefranc Fortuño, Subsecretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC), will remain in his position despite an investigation by the Independent Special Prosecutor's Office (FEI) being expanded to examine potential criminal or delinquent conduct. DDEC Secretary Carlos J. Ríos Pierluisi confirmed that Lefranc Fortuño will continue in his role since he has not been accused of any wrongdoing, despite being mentioned in the FEI Panel's resolution.
The DDEC will await the FEI's determination before considering any further action regarding the official. According to Ríos Pierluisi, Lefranc Fortuño's work within the DDEC will not change at this stage, and the agency will give the FEI space to conduct its investigation.
