The request for the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA) to use $9,688,345 from the Emergency Reserve to rehabilitate four water wells that would supply five million gallons of water daily to the metropolitan area remains in the hands of the Junta de Supervisión Fiscal. According to Carlos Pesquera, advisor to Governor Jenniffer González Colón on infrastructure matters, the AAA has provided all necessary information to the Junta, including details on the production capacity, water quality, and potential contamination issues of each well.
The Junta's director, Robert Mujica, had requested this information, emphasizing that any measures to address the emergency should not create new financial obligations without proper backing. Pesquera expressed confidence that a response will be obtained in the coming days. The rehabilitation of the wells is crucial to addressing the water supply needs of the metropolitan area.
