A 20-year-old man, Orlando Vera Soto, faces charges for allegedly deflating a woman's car tires, holding her against her will for over an hour, and threatening to burn her vehicle. The incident occurred in Hatillo yesterday afternoon. Vera Soto was charged with mistreatment by threat and mistreatment by restriction of liberty under the Domestic Violence Law 54.
Judge Nivia Candelaria Martes of the Arecibo Tribunal Court determined cause for arrest and set a $15,000 bail, which Vera Soto did not pay, leading to his imprisonment in Bayamón until the preliminary hearing. The investigation was led by prosecutor Daniel Rosado and agent Daysa Martínez Ramos of the Arecibo CIC's Division of Gender Violence and Juvenile Affairs, under the supervision of Sergeant Brenda Lisboa Torres.
