The Puerto Rico Planning Board presented a new territorial planning map for the municipality of Aguas Buenas, following the adoption of its first comprehensive revision in over 15 years. The new planning instrument officially redefines the Urban Center of Aguas Buenas to include important public facilities, such as the Municipal Government Center, residential areas, and recreational spaces.
This revision aims to strengthen urban development, improve services to citizens, and establish an organized vision for the municipality's future growth. The revision process involved extensive citizen participation through community meetings and public hearings. The updated plan incorporates information on natural risks and lessons learned from the 2017 hurricanes, as well as municipal mitigation plans.
Héctor Morales Martínez, President of the Planning Board, stated that this revised plan will guide development decisions, promote new economic opportunities, and protect the resources that form part of Aguas Buenas' identity.
