The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) has launched a new platform called UPR Técnica, which unifies 259 academic offerings, including 31 associate degrees, 196 short courses, and 32 non-degree certifications, in over 15 thematic areas. The platform, launched by UPR President Zayira Jordán Conde, aims to respond to the island's labor demand and provide opportunities for people of all ages.
The offerings include courses in technology, health, construction, engineering, renewable energy, agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, languages, manufacturing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and design, among others. The platform integrates 162 in-person courses, 70 online courses, and 26 hybrid courses, making it easier for students to identify training and development opportunities. Currently, 932 students (2% of the total 41,000 students) are enrolled in associate degree programs.
The university plans to continue developing courses that respond to labor demand and student interest.
