Puerto Rico's Highway and Transportation Authority (ACT) announced that the reactivation of AutoExpreso fines will begin on Monday, October 19. The decision had previously been announced on July 20. With the date approaching, Edwin González Montalvo, Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) and executive director of the ACT, urged drivers to check their AutoExpreso accounts in advance, make sure their toll stickers are properly registered, and keep a sufficient balance to cover toll costs. González Montalvo said that starting October 19, the imposition of AutoExpreso administrative fines will resume as part of compliance with the certified Fiscal Plan, adding that the goal is for the transition to be orderly and for users to have the information and tools needed to manage their accounts.
Users can check their balance through the mobile app, the AutoExpreso website, AutoExpreso recharge lanes, the phone line 1-888-688-1010, the Driver Service Centers (CESCO), and the AutoExpreso office at Metro Office Park in Guaynabo.
