Governor Jenniffer González has nominated Deputy Secretary of Justice Annette Esteves Serrano to a judgeship on the Court of First Instance (Tribunal de Primera Instancia), as a superior court judge. Justice Secretary Lourdes Gómez, Esteves Serrano's boss, praised the nomination, saying she feels deep pride and congratulates her wholeheartedly. Gómez highlighted Esteves Serrano's career of more than 28 years in the Public Prosecution Service (Ministerio Público), which she described as marked by integrity, professional rigor and a firm calling to bring justice to crime victims.
Gómez said those who have had the privilege of working with her know her seriousness, her character and her deep respect for the law. She added that the Department of Justice is very proud of Esteves Serrano's work and of having her on its team, calling the nomination a well-deserved recognition. Gómez said that, if confirmed, the judiciary would gain a great asset: a professional with vast experience, broad knowledge of the justice system and solid principles.
